Aline Berger Family Memories

Felicity Motty Hardin
Daughter of Lawrence and Carlette LeBlanc Motty
Granddaughter of Eula and Clet LeBlanc, Jr.
Great Granddaughter of Aline Berger and Clet LeBlanc, Sr.
Great Great Granddaughter of Eugenie and Henry Berger
Great Great Great Grandaughter of Charles Honore and Felicite Berger

Felicity Motty Hardin was born on August 4, 1975. She shares the same date of birth, August 4, as her great great grandfather, Henry Berger. At the time of her birth very little was known about Henry's family history. Ironically, she was given the same name as Henry's mother, Felicite. You decide-why did this coincidence happen?

Laura Mae LeBlanc Romero
Daughter of Lucy Berger LeBlanc
Niece of Cecile, Honorine, Anita, and Aline Berger

"Cecile was sweet and always cheered you and did lovely handwork. Honorine always had a lovely smile and always looked very happy. Anita was my godmother and I loved her dearly. I can say she always tried to help and was sweet and caring. I was very close to Aline-she always tried to help me out in any way she could. Lucy was my Mother-words cannot express what she was-always so sweet and caring. I loved them all!"

"Mamom Clet was my great grandmother. We lived next door to her and Papop Clet. I remember Mamom used to walk around the yard everyday. It was her exercise. Sometimes I would go walk with her. Once she was trying to say something but she forgot how to say it in English. She kept saying it in French and pointing to different things while I would guess what it was. She would cook beignets every weekend morning and roll them in powdered sugar. We'd (my sister, Carissa, brother, Saul, and myself) would run over there in the morning so we could eat them all, and she would let us. Mamom would also come to our house and fold the clothes. She taught us how to count to ten in French. We could go play at her house anytime we wanted.

Charlotte Fremin Romero
Daughter of Nolan and Georgia LeBlanc Fremin
Granddaughter of Aline Berger LeBlanc

"I remember Sunday afternoons with Tante Anita, Mom Clet and various other relatives sewing baby clothes and talking stories in their witty way. I remember talking Mom Clet and Tante Anita into buying red suits (in which they look stunning). They were worried because people would talk about them wearing such a bright color at their age. They decided people were going to talk anyway because they liked nice clothes."

"When Aunt Anita's eye sight got bad-she felt very useless many times. So I decided to let her fold my clothes. She always wanted to help. I still feel warmth in my heart remembering the children searching for their matching pair of socks in each other drawers! I knew she couldn't match them up-but it didn't matter, she had a ball feeling useful. I'm glad we adopted her as our grandmother. Sometimes she'd laugh so much-she'd have an accident! Those times didn't matter. Her laughter meant more."
